Panchakarma is a Sanskrit word that means “five treatments”. This is a process used to cleanse the body of toxins left in the body following disease, poor nutrition, and environmental factors. Naturally, the body has it’s own ability to expel these waste products, however due to repeat indiscretions in diet, exercise, lifestyle, or even genetics, the body’s homeostasis can still be unbalanced. This can lead to the accumulation and spread of toxins throughout the physiology resulting in disease. This waste matter is called Ama in Ayurveda, it’s a malodorous, sticky, and harmful substance that must be expelled entirely from the body.
